Meet Dr. Ariel Rodriguez, MD, FACS, FASMBS
Experienced Surgical Professional
The hardest part of this decision is rarely the procedure itself. It is trusting the person holding the instruments. Dr. Ariel Rodriguez is a board-certified bariatric and general surgeon who has built his entire career around helping patients take back control of their health through weight loss surgery.
He is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons and a Fellow of the American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery, and fellowship-trained in minimally invasive techniques. More than fifteen years and several thousand laparoscopic and endoscopic procedures sit behind every recommendation he makes.
What that experience buys you is candor. A careful evaluation, a plain explanation of why one option beats the others for your anatomy, and the trade-offs stated out loud before you agree to anything.

Get To Know Rodriguez Surgical Practice
Gastric Sleeve (LSG)
A permanent reduction of the stomach performed through small abdominal incisions. Our usual starting point for higher-BMI patients who want substantial, lasting weight loss.
Mini Gastric Bypass
Sleeve-level restriction paired with a bypass component, using a single rerouted connection. Strong results on a leaner risk profile and a shorter operation.
Gastric Bypass (RNY)
A long-established procedure for patients whose weight is bound up with type 2 diabetes or severe reflux. The strongest metabolic effect we can offer anyone.
Endoscopic Sleeve (ESG)
Incision-free and performed entirely through the mouth. Same-day discharge and a quick return to ordinary life for patients in the lower BMI band.
Revision/Conversion Surgery
Corrective work for patients whose first operation has stopped delivering. We repair what is there, or convert it into something that will hold.
Long-Term Follow-Up
Support that continues long after the operating room. What happens over the following twelve months decides the result as much as the surgery does.
Ready To Take The Next Step?
Book the consultation and get an honest read on what is realistic for your body. Nobody is asked to commit on the day, and nothing gets recommended before we understand your history.
Serving Patients From Across The Country
Patients rarely travel for convenience. They travel because the program is worth the trip. Ours draws people from Delray Beach, Boca Raton, West Palm Beach, Fort Lauderdale and Miami, and from states across the country.
Same-day surgery, a price quoted in full before you book anything, and follow-up handled by telehealth are what make out-of-state care workable rather than exhausting.
Tell us where you are flying from and we will build the timeline around it, starting with a video consultation before you spend a dollar on travel.
Serving patients from across the country
- Virtual consultation before you travel
- All-inclusive pricing, no surprise bills
- Same-day, minimally invasive surgery

common questions
Frequently Asked Questions
Is Dr. Rodríguez board certified?
He is, and we would encourage you to ask that of every practice you shortlist. Here at South Florida Bariatrics, Dr. Rodriguez holds board certification in general surgery, fellowship training in minimally invasive and bariatric surgery, and fellowships in both the American College of Surgeons and the American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery. Those four credentials together are the floor we think patients should insist on.
Does he speak Spanish?
Fluently, and so do members of our team. You can discuss your anatomy, your risks and your recovery in whichever language you think most clearly in, which matters more than people expect when the subject is surgery. We also keep a Spanish version of our candidacy page for patients who would rather read through their options first.
Do you accept out-of-state patients?
A significant share of our practice travels to us. We begin with a virtual consultation before you book any flights, then hand you a clear plan covering your surgery date, how long to stay in Florida, and how your telehealth follow-up will run once you are home. Because our pricing is all-inclusive, you can budget the entire trip in advance.
How many procedures has he performed?
Several thousand laparoscopic and endoscopic weight loss procedures across more than fifteen years. Volume matters here for a specific reason. Because we perform the sleeve, the bypass and the endoscopic sleeve regularly, we can steer you toward the right one rather than the one we happen to be comfortable with. Ask us about his numbers on your particular procedure and we will give you them.
Will he perform my surgery personally?
Yes, every time. Dr. Rodriguez carries out each procedure himself, and he is the same person who evaluates you beforehand and reviews you afterwards. You will not be passed to a rotating surgical team, and you will not meet your surgeon for the first time on the morning of your operation.
How do I book a consultation?
Call (561) 829-7982 or send your details through the contact form on this page. We will ask about your weight, your BMI and what you have already tried, then put you in front of Dr. Rodriguez at our Delray Beach office or by video if you are out of state. There is no charge to ask and no obligation attached.
